The Musky Herb Bisexual Flowers

The musky herb (Adoxa moschatellina) is a species of musk grass family (Adoxaceae). It is a common plant in the Netherlands from 5-15 cm high. Most leaves are ternate grondstandig and double. The stem leaves are opposite.

The bisexual flowers are regular and are in a single head end alternately. At the top and four sides this is a single flower. The sides are about 1 cm. The top has four flower petals and two sepals. The laterally placed flowers have five petals and three sepals. Petals yellow. The flowering period is from March to May.

The musky herb comes in deciduous forests and between shrubs and bushes in the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. It has an airy, moist and nutrient rich soil is needed.
