Delphinium

The delphiniums (Delphinium) are a genus of the family of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). The botanical genus name is derived from the Greek Delphinium for Delphi plant, as the bud of the flower is to see a dolphin similar.

You are the larkspur (Consolida) similar and closely related to them. Occasionally, the field delphiniums (Consolida) also delphiniums (Delphinium) assigned.



Description
Larkspur species rarely grow as one or two years, mostly as a herbaceous perennial plants. The leaves are in three parts, palmately lobed to strongly divided.

In spiciform or schirmtraubigen inflorescences with many flowers are bracts, rarely are the flowers individually. The flowers are hermaphrodite zygomorph, spurred and shaped kelchartig. Of the five outer bracts is a spurred and encloses the inner two, spurred bracts. There are two Blütenhüllblattkreise available. Of the four inner, free bracts are the top two spurs and contain nectar, and the bottom two are ungespornt. There are many stamens present. There are usually three (rarely four to ten) available free carpels with many ovules. The pen has a clearly identifiable scar.

Are formed narrow Balgfrüchte. The seeds have small wings.
