The Great Angelica Plant

The great angelica (Angelica archangelica) is a species of plant that flowers family (Apiaceae or Umbelliferae). The plant is also called archangel named root. It is a plant of wet, very rich soil to water side (including the lake), river banks and pilot whales. The great angelica is also cultivated in gardens.

It is a two-to four-year type that dies once she has produced seed. The rhizome is fijngeringd and turnip-shaped, it is highly grooved and covered with remnants of the basal leaves. The root is thick, the meestalond 7 mm thick and fleshy, green outside and white inside. The root contains a yellow latex. The marrow-filled, thick bottom stems have an open central channel and up to 2.5 m high. The stem is finely furrowed, and bare branches above.

The great broad pointed leaves are divided into numerous smaller leaves with fijngekartelde edges. The lower large light green leaves are pinnate and have a long triple, round, grooved gutter-shaped and hollow stem. The stem leaves are less strongly sprung and sit with membranous, saccate inflated sheaths on the stems. Such a sheath enveloping even the immature stem tip. The sheath collects rainwater, which many small animals may occur. The wide blade to steal the base thickened. The huge, exceeding 60 cm in girth triangular leaves are divided into egg-shaped, serrated, 3-8 cm long leaves.

The 20 cm wide, greenish and terminal epoxides screens are composed of a number of smaller screens. The screens and screens are veelstralig, with twenty to forty rays. The top screen areas are mealy. Involucre lacking or consists of only one to three leaves. The omwindseltjes are numerous. The flowers bloom from early summer off, June to September, in giant screens. In the wild, the color is usually pink and yellowish green in farmed species. The flowers smell very sweet and covered with a layer of shiny nectar. The flower heads look like they "were baptized in wine". The ovaries ripen into 1 cm thick, yellow fruits. The fruit is elliptical-wide flat compressed, with large wings and consists of two straw yellow, wide-brimmed part fruit.
